Five On Friday

Although it is Lent there are still other occasions to commemorate and of course this weekend is Valentines Day!  The day of love and romance that comes to us once a year.

Today my tradition is to share with you five love quotes.  Some of which you may have read here - or elsewhere! - before, and some new ones thrown in too.

One

Let us begin with Beethoven.  Quite possibly my favourite love quote ever.  So simple, so right.  Just so.

Ever thine.
Ever mine.
Ever ours.

Two

This isn't about romantic love, it is a different sort of love, but still wonderful nonetheless.  I have one best friend who knows everything about me and still loves me.  I am very lucky.  I hope that you have that too.  Words by Elbert Hubbard.

A friend is someone who knows all about you
and still loves you.

Three

Next up some words that are rather telling in a way from William Shakespeare.  Sad, because surely it would be wonderful to trust everyone, but we can at least love everyone.

Love all, trust a few, do wrong to none.

Four

When looking for quotes I always turn to my beloved authors, Beatrix Potter, Louisa May Alcott and Laura Ingalls Wilder.  These words are from Louisa in Little Women.  Although I have been married twice, I have never had scores of suitors.  The first one wasn't the right one, but oh gosh, the second one most certainly has been!  I hope that I can keep him forever, he will always be forever in my heart that is sure!

You don’t need scores of suitors.
You need only one…
if he’s the right one.

Five

Do you know the song To make you feel my love by Bob Dylan?  Also sung by Garth Brooks and Adele.  I leave you with the words of the final verse.  For me, that is love.  Going to the ends of the earth for someone.  That, and accepting them no matter what, loving because of their faults, not despite them.

I could make you happy, make your dreams come true
There's nothing that I would not do
Go to the ends of the Earth for you
To make you feel my love.

Next week it will be the first anniversary of Five On Friday with everyone able to join in.  I cannot believe that we have been sharing our Five things on Fridays for 12 months now!  In some ways it seems as though it has been going for years and in other ways, wow, where did 12 months go!!!

Last week the highest number of people ever joined in with posts which was incredible.  Thank you to everyone who took part last week and all the other weeks.  Next week I will be doing a round up of thanks and so on so I will say more then, but thank you now too!

I wanted to mention it here today because it would be wonderful if, on the first anniversary of Five On Friday as many people as possible took part, joined in with your posts and we could all share together.  I hope that mentioning this today will give you chance to get your thinking caps on for a Five On Friday post to share next week.

********************

I leave you on this post of love with, of course, my button heart!  Every time you all see it you love it so I give you all my love this Valentines Day and every day because, after all, Love Made My Home is all about the love isn't it and so am I and so are YOU!

Love to all of you with hopes of joy in your heart always!

Thank you for bringing the very greatest of joy to my heart, you will never know how much I love you all.

Hope you have a great weekend, whatever you are doing.

Amy

  1. I enjoyed reading your quotes, Amy, and I, too, like Beethoven's. It's very succinct. Now I'm off to bed here on the west coast as you are likely almost getting up. How wonderful that we can all connect via blogging - thank you for hosting the link up party each Friday. And congratulations on a year of Five on Friday!

  5. Thank you for hosting this link up! I can't remember how I found it, but here I am. Beautiful quotes. To Make You Feel My Love is one of my favorite songs, ever since I heard the Garth Brooks version in Hope Floats. I had wished so badly that my first husband would say those words to me, but he never did. But like you, I found my dream man in husband #2. Happy Valentine's Day!

  12. I enjoyed your words of love!! I love the words of the Bob Dylan song - but I much prefer it sung by Garth or Adele - one of the few times when a cover is better than the original.

  13. All lovely quotes, Amy. Literally! I was going to pick a favourite but I'm not going to - they're *all* my favourites. (I sound a bit like Sir Brucie! LOL)

  14. Great quotes Amy.
You always put so much thought into your 'Five on Friday' posts.
It's been a fun year and I've tried to join in whenever possible - though last year work seemed to take over my life!
Happy Valentines to you - it's not such a big thing here - though the young people I work with are planning romantic dinners and cards so it seems it's on the increase!
Many thanks for hosting and I'm looking forward to next weeks party!

  29. All of your Valentine photos are so pretty, Amy! The first one reminds me of the photos on a couple refrigerator magnets I purchased from an Etsy shop. They're very Art Deco-ish and I love them. (I'm sure that Hercule Poirot had them on his refrigerator too. ;-) Your red glass is also so perfect for Valentines. Hope you have a happy weekend with your true love!

  48. Hello Amy, such a lovely post about love and friendship and how precious they are. I love your beautiful hearts, especially, of course, the button heart. The quotes are just wonderful. I married my best friend, so I am twice blessed in that regard. After over 40 years, we know too much about each other, so neither of us could ever leave. Lol! Seriously, though, love is what life is all about and your beautiful blog always reminds us of that. Happy Valentine's Day and congratulations on 1 year! Wow! Hugs xo Karen
