This month I am much quicker off the mark with my monthly mantel. I was determined that it would not be the end of the month before I completed it and before I shared it with you. So yesterday I had a bit of a play and a fiddle - and to be honest I have had another move around since I took these pictures, but the elements are the same so I didn't photograph it again!
The eagle eyed amongst you will recognise the strawberries from last year. You can read my post about them here.
It was always my plan to have strawberries in June for my mantel. The sunflowers that I am making will come next month.
So here it is! What do you think.
I get asked sometimes what I do with my garlands at the end of the month. Well this proves the point. I keep them and use them again. Either for another mantel, or I give them away as gifts - explaining that they have hung on my mantel for a little while - or I use them somewhere else. For example my valentines hearts are hanging on the bookshelf in my office. Nothing is ever thrown away or wasted.
Of course there has to be the obligatory sideways on view each month too! I really do have no idea why I started this, but I did and now I keep on doing it. You know how these things go!!!
See, these are the cute little strawberries!!! Aren't they lovely. I loved them last year and I still love them this year.
Oh, and a pile of strawberries too!!
These two little pots are tealight holders, but of course they go with the strawberry theme so on the mantel they went.
This butterfly is meant to hang off a jar candle, but it works just as well on my favourite amber glass vases. I do love these vases!!
You can also see the owl on the far left, which is also meant for a candle and the silvery bird on the right. The clock and the little fellow next to him - he is called Tamar and is a good luck charm - are always on the mantel all year round. This month every single thing on my mantel is something that I already had or had made before. I didn't even make anything new. It shows that you don't have to spend money to do something like this, just gather similar things together and change them around from month to month.
I hope that I have inspired you to have a go at refreshing your own mantel for the start of summer! If you don't have a mantel how about dressing up your coffee table or a shelf somewhere. Or your kitchen windowsill?
