Five On Friday

I am posting Five On Friday, but first I wanted to say thank you all so very much for your support this week.  I cannot express how much your thoughts, words and prayers have meant to me.  Anne, I have felt your hand in my pocket and I have known that many others have been with me too.

Knowing that you are not alone is a wonderful thing.  It has helped me to help.

There is no new news, but no new bad things either so I guess that is something.  Still rubbish, but the same rubbish!

Truly, thank you!

On with Five On Friday.

One - colouring for grown ups.  I think that I shared some of this with you before, but I know that several of you are also grown up colourers in!  It is very absorbing!  This week bought two brightly coloured flamingos and two nearly finished giraffes.  Who would have thought that I would take up colouring in again, but I have and I am enjoying it.

Two - a bunch of fairly ordinary flowers, but one of them has bent itself over and it looks as though the chicken is trying to munch it.  It made me laugh!

Three - summer seems to have arrived at last!  Yay!  That means salad time.  For most of this month we have been eating salads in different ways and with different things.  So my plastic leaf salad bowl is back in use again.  It is quite possibly a bit naff, but I like a bit of naff every now and then.  Don't you!

Four - new flowers for the front door.  We planted this pot up with the bay tree last year after our building renovations were completed and it has done really well.  We have changed the other plants seasonally and although I cannot remember what these are called, the pink and red makes for a lovely splash of colour.  The bay tree is doing really well too with lots of new bright green leaves.

Five - yesterday morning on a whim I decided to tidy out my scarf drawer.  Yes, I do have a lot of scarves!  But I do wear and use them.  They are now all neat and tidy and I can look through them easily to find the one I want.  I also found this cute little lavender sachet tucked in amongst them.  I received the sachet in a giveaway from Linda at Chalky's World last year, it reminded me of the loveliness of bloggers.

Six - I know, I know, it is FIVE on Friday!  I finally finished my book choice for May - at nearly the end of June....  I will be writing my review and will have it up in a couple of days.  The good part is that I enjoyed the book, and even better that I can now allow myself to start reading The Diary of a Provincial Lady.  Bliss!!!

Thank you again.  You all know who you are.  Thank you.

I hope that you all have a great weekend and that it is filled with fun and love and joy!

Amy

  5. A great five for friday Amy, the colouring in is great, I have seen adult colouring in projects around lately and they look great. I still colour in from time to time with the kids and I find it very relaxing. The scarf drawer is looking good, scarves are a great accessory, my favourite in fact. I hope things improve for you this weekend, take care xox

  6. Naff or not, I love a vintage green salad bowl. Yours reminds me of my green depression glass collection, which always comes out in the summertime. Love those flamingos!! I'm still looking for a colouring book too....xx

  9. Funnily enough I was just reading about mindfulness and colouring and how it is helpful for a sense of wellbeing. I think it frees the mind somehow. I really like your salad bowl, perfect for all those lovely early summer leaves. And the bay tree, I'm a big fan of bay trees, but I struggle to grow them. Yours is looking really healthy, you obviously have the green touch! I'm wishing you a good weekend Amy. CJ xx

And it's always nice to have a good sunny season arrive...along with a great assortment of blossoms at your door to greet you.

  11. I love the chicken eating the flower! :) I've had a bunch of carnations indoors for the last 3 weeks! Great value for money.
As you know I love colouring too. I hope you have a calm and peaceful weekend. x

  12. Lovely images as usual, Amy. I'm afraid I'm way behind with blogging and commenting - not always enough time for my favourite hobby! But I see 'stuff' is going on and hope it all works out for you and others. Have a good weekend.

  13. Ha ha, I had to laugh at the chicken eating the flower. It's years since I've done any colouring, not since the children were small, but I always found it so relaxing. I think I'll have to look out for one of those and buy myself some lovely new colouring pens too.

  18. I like your colouring in. We give up so many bright, cheerful things we do as children that are good for us, don't we? I think it's a great idea to reclaim them. Keep your chin up, love xx

  19. I've bought myself a grown up colouring book for the summer holidays! Something for me and the girls to do :-) you can't have too many scarves, I think, they are a very useful accessory. The chicken does look like she's going to eat the flower, doesn't it? Have a lovely weeknd, Amy, thanks for hosting as always xx

  24. Such a Gal after my own heart! Coloring and you own lots of scarves. Lol I relate on every level!! I love that salad bowl too - but what does "naff" translate to where I'm from? ;)

Hope the drama in your life calms down once and for all. Keep those sunny thoughts going. Happy weekend to you dear Gal! xoxo

  25. Amy, you were in my pocket when I needed you so it's only right that I'm in yours now. Hang on tight!

My daughter (aged 33) showed me a colouring book she'd bought herself the other day. She says it calms her to colour in. I'm all for calm!

I've got my scarves hanging on shower curtain rings over the plastic wires you hang net curtains on screwed to the insides of my wardrobe doors. I do sometimes wish I had a drawer for them but, this way, none of them get stuck on the bottom of the pile and forgotten about.

The chicken eating the flower made me smile. Oh and your green plate isn't naff ... or if it is, I'm all for naff! :oD

  26. What a pretty salad bowl. We're doing lots of salads too. Sorry the tough situation is going on. I had 2 calls this morning, one from my older sister that I didn't answer and one from my younger sister telling me not to answer my older sister's call. That's what my family is like. I only speak to my younger sister.

  27. That chicken really looks like it's about to eat that flower. Very sweet, and also funny. I've tried colouring in too with the free colouring cards from a magazine and found it quite absorbing. I'd love to do it more if I have a bit more spare time--there's a colouring in book in WH Smith that I've had my eye on for awhile now :-) Your scarf drawer looks very neat-- well done! And I hope you have a lovely and restful weekend. Take care! X

  28. Oh I just love coloring! Something very meditative about it! Salads are awesome and I wish I could have them all year round with fresh out of the garden veggies!
Be happy all weekend my dear friend!
    Hugs always,

  29. Such a cute chicken vase! Loved the carnation "snack":-) Love that beautiful green glass bowl also. I have learned in researching fabric painting for my quilting projects that one can use crayons. So I found your coloring project interesting. I have been copying a lot of "coloring for adults" patterns off Pinterest for possible use in embroidering also. I didn't know that this had actually become an art form. Love your flamingoes!

  30. I like the pictures of yours! The flowers on the chicken vase are beautiful. I also love your scarf drawer organization and I love the lavander sachet. I love lavanders so much! I love this idea and I will try to make some sachets.

    Cheers, Sandra

  31. Nothing wrong with being a scarf queen - I have bought myself three in the last month. Love them in winter.
Have a great weekend - enjoy your new book.

  32. I love that flower teasing the chicken too. I love the green of the new leaves on your Bay Tree, I have a little one too. Your colouring is great. I'm glad your rubbish hasn't got any worse lovely. Hope you have a peaceful weekend filled with joy too! Take care Amy and thank you for hosting xxxx

  34. There is nothing naff about your salad bowl, it is just perfect. Our bay tree is nearly three meters tall. You chose well to plant it in a pot, we should have done that :-) Have a lovely weekend. x

  35. So lovely to see this post Amy! It shows me that joy is surrounding you! And yes that cracked me up....the chicken does look like it is eating the flower! And how pretty is that new planter by the door! And the coloring pages...did you order them online??? Sending you hugs and flowers my friend....Nicole xoxo

  36. Glad you are doing ok and are feeling the love of your bloggy friends! Isn't it a blessing to know you have people praying and caring for you, from all over?
I love the word naff! It's not a word I've heard before and it makes me smile. :)
Your coloring is beautiful - you are very good!

  37. I've not colored for a long time, but I can imagine that I would enjoy it. There would something meditative about coloring with one part of the brain while thinking with another part.
Organizing scarves is a great project. Mine are stuffed into a drawer and hauled out nilly willy when needed, which isn't going to be until September, apparently, because we are at the start of a long, hot summer.

  38. Your coloring choices are so vibrant and pretty. And that scarf drawer. Wow! You should see mine. Everything explodes when I try to open it. Best wishes, Tammy

  40. A really lovely five, Amy. I have scarf envy and your drawer is soooo tidy! I bought my mum a scarf tying book from our local National Trust shop. I had no idea there were so many ways. I would love to see more pictures of them. X

  41. I used to love colouring with the girls when they were little and I'm not surprised that colouring for adults has taken off, it's so therapeutic. I don't think your salad bowl is naff at all - I really like it! Love the bay tree, it looks lovely and healthy. Take care, hope things are settling. Jane xx

  42. I like your five Amy! The green salad bowl is perfect for summer meals outdoors ... green being a favourite colour of mine! I don't like using china on our stone patio too much in case something gets dropped and broken. I always enjoyed colouring books as a kid, and then they came out with Doodle Art posters that look very similar to your flamingos. Lots of fun hours there! Your chicken does look like she's been caught in the act of stealing one of your flowers ;) I was just wondering today if you could grow your own bay leaves. Is this tree in your pot one you could use the leaves for flavouring? I don't know if they'd winter here, but now you've got me thinking! Take care Amy, and a big hug for you!!

  43. Have you heard of coloring parties? They're sort of like paint night parties for the artistically challenged...not YOU! Like me. I love to color and my grandmother loved to color at 100 years of age.

Your flower munching chicken made me laugh.

Does "naff" rhyme with laugh? More for me to &00gle as I have no idea what that means not even by context. =D

    ReplyDelete
  44. A good set of five. And naff is only naff to some. I like your bowl!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Oh honey, what is going on? I have got to catch up with you! Didn't know there had been trouble. I'm so behind and so sorry that I haven't asked. I love, love, love to color. It was an activity I did with my residents because I loved it myself! What does "naff" mean? I love the bowl. Gotta back track and find out what is going on with you, my friend.

  46. adult coloring books are popular around here, too.....i still have too many little grands who let me color in their books!!!! :)

  47. I love your green salad bowl.. it looks like antique vaseline glass! Can you use the bay leaves on your plant for cooking? If so, I need to get a bush of that as I love bay leaves. Enjoy your week! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  48. I love your rooster vase....very kool indeed. I also envy your green bowl. I have an obsession for old glass. When I go to garage sales or antique stores I have a mantra I say in my head "I am not going to buy any glass....I am not going to buy any glass"....sure enough I buy glass. LOL Happy weekend.
