On with my Five things today!
One - I have been loving these roses for the last week. I bought them last Friday, £3.00 for the bunch, and they have been gorgeous all week and look set to last for several more days yet.
I don't normally go for flowers in this colour, but these were so lovely.
After being tight buds for a few days they have really opened up. £3.00 very well spent I think!
Two - I have a thing for glass domes. Cake domes, and display domes. Here is my latest dome display. All of the things under the domes are candle related. Even that big gold pineapple which has a candle inside it. All of the other things are of course candle holders. I love domes - and candles!
Three - mango chutney making. I have never actually made a chutney before - although I have eaten loads! I decided to have a go at this mango chutney by Bill Granger. It was delicious!! Very easy to do as well and sooooo much nicer than bought jarred mango chutney. I would possibly have added a little less sugar as the mangoes were very sweet and I might add a little more spice too.
There is a version of the recipe I used here, but this shows 200grammes of sugar, whereas my book says only 100grammes and as I said I would have used less than that. So you might want to monitor the amount of sugar, but it is well worth a go!
Four - this is a very unusual one! Well, unusual for me, and I expect unusual for you too! While surfing around online recently - as one does! - I found a film that I have been searching for for years. Literally years. It is called Queenie, and there is a link about it here.
After a bit more searching I found an upload of the film on you tube. While I was watching it, I suddenly noticed that some of the rooms looked familiar. As I watched more closely I realised that it was Basildon Park!!! You know, the place where I work.
I had never heard anything about this filming and when I spoke to colleagues neither had they! It was filmed in the 1980's before we kept such good records of these things and before any of the staff working at the house started there so it had been forgotten over time. I was very excited to discover this.
The film isn't really the best and is very of its time of the 1980's, but I did enjoy seeing Basildon Park of course! Not something you discover every day is it.
Five - and finally more flowers - of course!! You know that I love flowers especially at this time of year. Stocks in the kitchen this time.
Not just stocks in the kitchen, but stocks in the kitchen in a chicken jug!! How about that. I think they have the most gorgeous scent, but hubby doesn't agree. Isn't it funny how we are all different!
So those are my five things for this week!
I hope that you all have a great weekend and that it is filled with fun and love and joy!
