Confined to barracks

I hate being stuck indoors!  Today I am confined to barracks awaiting a delivery.  Last week our DVD player died halfway through playing a disk - how rude is that I ask you!  We are probably dinosaurs still playing DVD's, but we still want to be able to watch the films that we have, so we don't think that we are dinosaurs (we have moved on from playing cassette tapes and video's after all!).  So there is nothing for it, but to wait in for the delivery man.

I wanted to be out here doing some gardening, but I won't hear the door if I am.

So instead I have been fiddling around with a little of this

And a bit of this

I added some squares here

Moved some ornaments around

Played with my Easter Tree

Considered what I might do with these (no answer! still undecided....)

Finally I realised, I better get on and chase away some dust bunnies and make use of this

Which meant that I found this hiding under the bed - do you think that it is from the Easter Bunny?  I hope that it is for me!  I didn't peek though.

Its a shame being stuck indoors when the sky is so beautiful

But at least we will have a new one of these by the end of the day!

What are you doing today?

Amy

  1. Today - I am in the office, but getting side-tracked reading blogs! And looking at my garden, and anything else that puts off the inevitable work! Waiting until 3pm when I have a massage booked. Not a relaxing one - but a sports massage, and I come away feeling great. Hope the DVD player gets delivered soon, and you can go outside and enjoy this lovely weather. x

  4. Lots of Easter loveliness Amy, and I really like your Easter tree. Your crotchet squares look beautiful, and as I am currently producing a few experimental squares, I am looking at how beautifully you join them together. Can I ask your method? I am wondering if you join only the back half of each stitch? Lovely blue skies you are having. Happy Easter, Amy. x

    1. I am joining these in the "join as you go method", basically you do a UK SC in the space between the treble cluster, but that is a rubbish explanation! If you go to either Lucy at Attic 24's blog or Jacquie at Bunny Mummy's blog they have great tutorials for all of this sort of thing and you will get a much better idea than I can give! Hope that you can work it out Patricia. Happy Easter to you too. xx

  5. I am also pottering, in the garden and in the house. In truth not doing very much at all, I keep getting side tracked. Tomorrow is another day! Hope you get your delivery soon so you can enjoy the rest of the day.

  6. It's too nice to be indoors really, isn't it? I do love your Easter tree and those Easter baskets though. We still use DVD's though I will insist on calling them video's, I think it's me who's the dinosaur.

  8. Today we have been out to Bridgemere Garden World where we had a cup of coffee and looked at plants and bought a new bird feeder. We had to buy a new DVD player a few weeks ago as our old one kept stopping halfway through a film - I still like to have one to play favourite films occasionally. Hope your delivery arrives soon:)

  9. I think I would of had to have a peek inside the bag...just a peek. Your squares look so pretty joined together. Can't wait to see it all finished. I love that last picture! Blue skies and budding trees make me so happy. Hope you have a great day!

  10. It looks like you've found plenty to keep you busy. We still use DVD's here too. We did upgrade to a Blu-ray player this winter, so we could move up to Blu-ray discs if we wanted to, but I don't think we'll restart the whole collection when the old DVD's still work. :)

  17. Today I have been in the Cancer Care boutique helping out and sorting the craft bags, somehow 2 pairs of new sandals, a skirt and cardi managed to make their way into my bag..........Love your Easter tree, so colourful and I like your raised beds, looks like it won't be long before you are pulling the rhubarb. You couldn't possibly have peeked in the bag and not given the game away, well done.

  18. Just puttering about myself while my car gets its snow tyres removed and new summer ones put on (an added expense!). ALthough if you looked out my window right now you might wonder why we are taking our snow tyres off the cars this week. It is lightly snowing - but we are not expecting any accumulation. The weather is crazy - yesterday was 23C and today it's -5C - go figure!!! Your Thornton's bag looks delicious by the way!!!

  19. It is so frustrating waiting for a delivery - you don't even want to go to the loo, in case the doorbell promptly rings!! I have spent most of the day sewing - although at the end of the afternoon I did clean the enormous lounge window, as the sun was showing up how dirty it was. I am glad that I did it, as I now have a much clearer view of the birds on the feeders and in the birdbath!!

    1. You know my greatest fear!! I love the sun coming out, but it does show up any grubby windows doesn't it, which after the rain we have had are not to be unexpected I guess! Hope that you enjoy the sparking new view!! xx

HA! Mine looks nothing like that!! And your egg tree literally made me gasp when I saw it! It is the best cutest one I have seen! I will be pinning it! Nicole xoxo

  22. I hate waiting around for a delivery and even worse if it doesn't come, which happens quite often so infuriating, love your Easter tree and that package looks very interesting! I have actually managed to get the front grass cut today I was going to do the back but had to go shoe shopping with my daughter as she is travelling tomorrow. Hope your new DVD player arrived. xxx

  23. Just the words 'awaiting a delivery' make me tense. Glad to see you've been making the most of your time indoors!

  24. It is frustrating waiting for deliveries isnt it, I so love your easter tree! You are so good not to peek, I think I would have. Today is just starting for me, looks as if I might be able to crochet a lot as the weather is horrible, Yay! Hope the dvd player arrives okay.

  25. It looks like you have had a very productive day, Amy! It is a shame you had to stay indoors though instead of out, the weather has been so nice today! I am very interested in your veggie patch, we only have one and we are planting this weekend hopefully. I love your Easter tree too. I am totally with you regarding dvds - people tell me to stream movies and all of that, but I much prefer a good old fashioned dvd any day (and wouldn't even know how to stream a movie!) Hope you get some garden time tomorrow and the weather is just as nice. :)

    1. I have no idea about this film streaming thing. I think that my hubby knows how to do it, but I have no idea myself, I prefer to stick to DVD's and CD's for music!! xx

  26. What a beautiful Easter tree you have. And some serious chocolate there as well, nice to see the Easter bunny is being good to you. Your reward for tackling the vacuuming. I hope your dvd player was delivered okay (and set up okay). We have one that's supposed to record things but I've never worked out how to do it. We watch dvds, and I consider that to be at the cutting edge of technology for us! Hope you enjoy the rest of the week.

  29. Oh, that is soooo frustrating! There has to be a better way of doing deliveries- waiting in all day is a right old pain in the proverbial, especially when you'd rather be outside on a glorious sunny day. I am very impressed at your restraint in NOT peeking inside that bag- not sure I would have been as self-controlled! x

  30. Your Easter tree is lovely! I'm sorry you were stuck inside all day. There's nothing worse than being inside on a nice day. I hope your delivery person showed up. It would be even worse if you waited for nothing!

  31. Oh I hate waiting in for something. What is it about delivery drivers, as soon as you go to the loo, peg out washing or so much as put a toe in the garden they have arrived, rung the doorbell, written and left a card and run back to the van silent as ninjas!!
Lovely Easter theme in your house, thank you for sharing it. I have a Lindt gold bunny waiting to be eaten!

  34. Hi Amy - hope this isn't too silly of a question, but why did you have to await a delivery...can't deliveries be left on your doorstep? I love your Easter tree - so cute! You're not dinosaurs for watching DVD movies...we do, too. Still have a bunch of DVDs, though I have weeded them out and only kept our favorites.

  35. Oh, it is hard to stay indoors and wait for that doorbell to ring on a beautiful day, but it looks like you made good use of your time! Your Easter decorations are so sweet ( and I love the colorful doily under your Easter egg tree!). Good for you for not peeking...I would be so tempted! We still use the DVD and I still collect favorite movies. I spent the day spring cleaning - it poured rain all day. I did get a lot done, though. Wishing you a lovely Easter. xo karen

  41. Hi Amy ........just a thought that popped in my head when you said about the ' vintage curtain material' they 'shouted' oven mitts, pot holders, apron ..???? to me anyhooo I unearthed some left over material from making kitchen curtains when we moved in our house nearly 30 years ago !! Made some oven mitts with it and a shopping holdall / bag for the Mum in law. Hope some inspirations come your way for the material soon
    Happy Easter :)

  42. Lovely Amy I absolutely hate waiting for someone to call - and you know what happens, you are left to the last on the list and feel as if the whole day is wasted. I love our DVD player and wouldn't be without it as I do love my old films! What a nice little surprise you found, you will have to tell us all what it is - I do love your Easter tree it is gorgeous but my real favourite is your fabric. I am drooling over it, very Festival of Britain Amy, you must make something fabulous with it. What a lovely Post as always Amy, full of fun and colour which is why I always love to visit you. Have a wonderful Easter, sending you big hugs and loves.
